What Are You Struggling With Right Now?
I absolutely love hearing from bass players just like you! I love answering questions and helping people out. Seriously – I’ve got a tag in my Gmail folder called “Helping People Out” that’s full of emails.
For the first few years when I was just starting out, I was mostly figuring everything out for myself. I would have LOVED to have someone I could ask all the questions that were rolling around in my head.
Eventually, I found people I could ask, but I would have saved myself a lot of time and a lot of pain if I could have gotten a quick answer – rather than trying a bunch of things that didn’t end up working out.
That’s why I’m here – to be that person for you! Feel free to ask anything that you’re wondering about and I’ll always do my absolute best to help you in any way I can.
Of course I’m just a one-man operation, but I make it a point to read every message that comes my way and I respond to the vast majority of them.
The best questions even get made into video lessons (with your permission of course…)
Just fill out the form below, tell me what you’re struggling with and I’ll get back to you as soon as humanly possible and help you out as best as I can!
Cheers and happy playing!

Dear Luke,
Every thing fine over there, i hope?
Here it’s going well; i practice my chords and other things
every day, and ‘speedy’ them up.😏
The ‘thing’, i am struggling with, is slapping; it doesnt look very difficult, but for me it is, one way or another.
Mayby you have some advice or tricks for me.
If not, never mind; i learn’t so many things from you, and i am so gratefull, that you can’t go wrong.😁
Greetings from NL.

Hey Bob! Good to hear from you! The trick with learning slap (or most other skills) is to do it as slowly as possible to begin and only when you can do it absolutely perfectly at a super slow tempo do you increase speed. One mistake a lot of people make is trying to play things at speed from the very start which is just a recipe for frustration.

Luke, love your way of teaching and imparting your knowledge. The problem I have is that I am learning the base ukulele which has a shorter fret board, the frets go only to 16. This diminishes somewhat the number of repeats of a note. Your fretboard tuition is great but I am also trying to use your Killer Bass Workout and I am short a number of frets, can I just use what is available and will this still give me a good workout.
Thanks
Paul
