As a bassist, there’s one thing you do that’s probably more important than all others:
Your GROOVE.
If you have a solid groove, then your bass lines will feel great and other musicians will love playing with you.
Get the groove wrong, and it’s a very different story.
But there are some very common mistakes that bassists make when it comes to their groove, and I know because I made ALL of them when I was learning.
The tricky thing with groove mistakes on bass is that they’re usually completely invisible, so unless someone points it out, you may never realize you’re making it.
So in this video, you’re going to learn what these mistakes are and how to spot them BEFORE they wreck your groove.

If you’re a self-taught bassist, knowing about these mistakes can save you from a world of dodgy timing and flaccid groove.
If you want to go deeper on rhythm and groove so your bass lines sound just like the ones on your favorite recordings, check out my program Level Up Your Groove.
It’s an entire system for taking your timing and rhythm to the next level, regardless of what style of music you’re playing.
Good luck with the lesson and happy playing!
Cheers,
Luke
